I have read the series Mr Aaronovitch has created a fantastic view of the mystical and magical underbelly of London. But with teeth!! Peter Grant, a probationary police constable, unwittingly interviews a ghost at a murder scene. This brings him to the notice of Inspector Nightingale who enrols Grant into a covert department which polices the ethereal forces that run London. Throughout the book Grant comes to realise their are many Gods and Goddesses of the rivers and tributaries of the city that are real. Grant is a completely believable character whos own scepticism is always being questions by the events he experiences through the story. I have read the series over the past few years and am currently re-reading in preparation to the latest offering I recently purchased. The books are like a believable Harry Potter for adults. The series is as follows; Rivers of London, Moon over Soho, Broken Homes, Whispers Underground, Foxglove Summer, The Hanging Tree and The Furthest Station. |
